XV International Congress of SEAE in April 2024 in Cáceres

The Spanish Society of Organic Agriculture and Agroecology (SEAE) announced the dates for the next International Congress on Organic Production, focusing on the commitment of this model of food production to the environment, the rural community, and the people who support it. The title was: “Organic Production, committed to our land, people, and food.”

The congress took place from April 24 to 27, 2024, with each day dedicated to a main theme: production, transformation, distribution, and consumption, demonstrating how organic production is increasingly present throughout the entire food system. Extremadura was chosen as the location, a region with a strong interest and active associative networks, academia, and research efforts promoting organic production as a model of rural development and food consumption. The region, known for its extensive agricultural and livestock tradition, had 3,258 operators and an organic surface area of more than 109,000 ha, ranking 6th in the state with 3.86% (data from the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food 2022).

Specifically, the event was held in Cáceres, at the San Francisco Cultural Center, an emblematic and historic building that served as the stage for analyzing the productive challenges of the organic and agroecological sector, and facilitated the exchange of experiences and transformative initiatives based on agroecology, from the local to the international level.
